UnauthorizedException: Amazon Creators API error

HTTP 401Authentication (401)Documented by Amazon

What it means

Amazon could not verify who you are. The reason field says why.

Typical causes

  • See the reason: TokenExpired, InvalidToken, InvalidIssuer, MissingClaim, MissingKeyId, UnsupportedClient, InvalidClient, MissingCredential or Other.

How to fix it

  1. Look up the specific reason code in this lexicon.
  2. Fetch a fresh token from the endpoint that matches your credential version.

Not sure which part fails? Run Test credentials in the Scratchpad. It checks the token, the API access and the partner tag separately.

Example response

{
  "type": "UnauthorizedException",
  "message": "Authentication token has expired.",
  "reason": "TokenExpired"
}

Related errors

  • InvalidToken: The access token in the Authorization header is broken, incomplete or in the wrong format.
  • TokenExpired: Your access token is older than one hour. Fetch a new one and try again.
