FieldValidationFailed (ValidationException): Amazon Creators API error

What it means

A required field is missing or has an invalid value. The fieldList in the response names it.

Message returned by the API: Request validation failed.

Typical causes

  • A required field is missing (partnerTag, marketplace, itemIds …).
  • PA-API 5 style PascalCase keys (ItemIds, PartnerTag) instead of lowerCamelCase.
  • Values out of range, e.g. more than 10 itemIds or itemCount above 10.
  • Missing marketplace: observed message "Missing required marketplace parameter. Provide via x-marketplace header or marketplace query parameter."

How to fix it

  1. Read fieldList (or message) and fix exactly those fields.
  2. Convert all keys to lowerCamelCase and resource names to dot notation (itemInfo.title).
  3. Send the marketplace both as x-marketplace header and in the body.
