AssociateNotEligible (AccessDeniedException): Amazon Creators API error
What it means
Your credentials are valid, but your Associates account currently does not qualify for API access (10 qualified sales in the last 30 days).
Message returned by the API: Your account does not currently meet the eligibility requirements.
Typical causes
- The account has fewer than 10 qualified sales in the trailing 30 days.
- The account went 30 days without qualifying sales through the API and lost access.
- New account: final acceptance into the Associates program is still pending.
How to fix it
- Check that the token request succeeded. If it did, your Credential ID, Secret and Version are correct.
- Open the Associates Central reports and count qualified sales of the last 30 days for this store.
- Keep linking with other tools (e.g. SiteStripe) until you reach 10 qualified sales; access returns within about two days after referred sales ship.
- Make sure you call the API with credentials of the primary account that owns the store.
Not sure which part fails? Run Test credentials in the Scratchpad. It checks the token, the API access and the partner tag separately.
Example response
{
"type": "AccessDeniedException",
"message": "Your account does not currently meet the eligibility requirements.",
"reason": "AssociateNotEligible"
}Note: Observed on 2026-11-04: this check runs before the partner tag check, so a non-eligible account gets this error even with a wrong partner tag. For status monitoring it still proves that the API is up.
Related errors
- AuthorizationFailed: Your login worked, but this credential may not use the API, most often because the credential itself has expired.
- InvalidPartnerTag: The partner tag is wrong, or it belongs to a different Associates account than your credential.
