InvalidPartnerTag (ValidationException): Amazon Creators API error

HTTP 400ValidationExceptionRequest validation (400)Documented by Amazon

What it means

The partner tag is wrong, or it belongs to a different Associates account than your credential.

Message returned by the API: Partner tag in the request is invalid or is not mapped to the store associated with your credential.

Typical causes

  • Typo in the tag (e.g. mytag-20 vs. mytag-21).
  • A tracking ID from a different Associates account than the credential.
  • A tag from another marketplace (tags are per marketplace: -20 US, -21 DE/UK/FR/IT/ES …).

How to fix it

  1. Copy the Store ID or a tracking ID from Associates Central of the marketplace you are calling.
  2. Make sure the credential was created in the same Associates account as the tag.
  3. Check that marketplace in the body and the x-marketplace header point to the same store.

Not sure which part fails? Run Test credentials in the Scratchpad. It checks the token, the API access and the partner tag separately.
