AccessDeniedException: Amazon Creators API error

HTTP 403Access & eligibility (403)Documented by Amazon

What it means

Amazon refused the request for your account or credential. The reason field says why.

Typical causes

  • See the reason: AssociateNotEligible, AuthorizationFailed or Other.

How to fix it

  1. Look up the specific reason code in this lexicon.
  2. For reason Other, read the message field and check the account status in Associates Central.

Not sure which part fails? Run Test credentials in the Scratchpad. It checks the token, the API access and the partner tag separately.

Example response

{
  "type": "AccessDeniedException",
  "message": "Your account does not currently meet the eligibility requirements.",
  "reason": "AssociateNotEligible"
}

Related errors

  • AssociateNotEligible: Your credentials are valid, but your Associates account currently does not qualify for API access (10 qualified sales in the last 30 days).
  • AuthorizationFailed: Your login worked, but this credential may not use the API, most often because the credential itself has expired.
